Dr. Sam Effarah, Psy.D., BCN, FAIS
Sam Effarah, Psy.D., BCN, FAIS holds a Clinical Psychology appointment in the Department of Medicine at Amita Health: Holy Family Medical Center. He is the owner and CEO of Synapse Chicago. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and graduate of the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago Campus. Dr. Effarah has provided services and support to clinical and peak performance (professional athletes and high level executives) populations in outpatient, inpatient, crisis center, emergency room, learning center, and therapeutic day school settings.
His specialties include Neurofeedback, Quantitative EEGs (Topographical Brain-Mapping), and Neuromodulation. His background in Clinical Psychology and these specialties inform his holistic/integrative approach. He has pursued his passion for helping others by developing an approach that integrates traditional therapies and assessments with the latest in neuroscience.
Dr. Catherine Grosberg, Psy.D.
Dr. Grosberg, a graduate of Adler University, Chicago, Illinois, provides services and support to a wide variety of patients across the lifespan in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She has worked in hospitals, private practice, and in higher education. Dr. Grosberg’s training includes traditional psychotherapy and neuropsychological/psychological assessments at MetroHealth Medical Center, University of Illinois Hyperactivity, Attention and Learning Problems Clinic (HALP), and Perspectives, an Employee Assistance Program.
Dr. Grosberg integrates a variety of techniques to manage chronic pain and medical conditions in both children and adults. She led parenting groups for her dissertation, which focused on parent training and retention to the therapy process, with the goal of minimizing attrition and improving access to therapy for parents of diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Dr. Grosberg also serves as an adjunct professor at The City Colleges of Chicago. In her spare time, Dr. Grosberg enjoys playing with her dog, Duke, Zumba classes, and the theatre.
